I'm still figuring out what I want from a compact camera. I'm aware I want more control over shots than the standard point-and-shoot and that I do not need a lot of the gimmicky features that come with newer consumer cameras. I can't believe I forgot to mention the lens in the previous article on the subject. D'oh!

Despite using a DSLR on a regular basis, there are still times when it's not appropriate to take one out. For instance, I don't always want to handle a camera body plus paraphernalia around with me. I miss using the simple point-and-shoot of my old Canon Ixus. That's still working, but its speed lets it down compared to today's cameras. However, having been won over by the flexibility of DSLRs, I'm going to find it hard to get back. Over the next couple of months, I'm going to have to get a new camera. read more »

It's been a while since I checked up on how blueMarine was doing. I liked what it was intending to do, but I had the feeling that it wasn't aiming in the direction that I was looking for. Looking at it now, it seems like it will be a good open-source replacement for the standard photo management part of iPhoto. read more »

You should soon be able to licence images by Award Sounds at The Photoshelter Collection. This has one of the best user-interfaces I've come across and the speed at which the site's functionality is being updated (and still working bug-free from what I've seen) is incredible.
