2) Orchestral + Rock
Edit - 28th March 2008 - I've just imported the track into Logic 8 after upgrading and took a 5 minute opportunity to make a better mix. At least now the rock part doesn't sound like tinny drums and guitars. There's still more to do, like removing the dodgy note a few bars into the lead guitar, but that can wait for next time. Now we're up to version 0_9.
What now?
There are various elements that I'd like to improve, e.g. the brass samples still sound artificial and I'd like more articulation in the choral parts. I can see this being an ongoing exercise until the samples sound realistic enough or until the music is licensed and it's worth recording an orchestra. For the moment, they'll stay as samples.
I also want to alter the mix quite drastically on the rock version. It's too cluttered and you can mainly hear drums and lead guitar. The other instruments are missing in the mix.
I'm unlikely to improve these for the time-being, instead I'll leave them as they until there's a video sequence to align them to. With the video, I can make the scene transitions fit more smoothly.
